2 c green beans, plant-end trimmed
2 t cornstarch
1 T turbinado or brown sugar
pinch crushed red pepper or cayenne pepper
2 T soy sauce
1 1/2 T red wine vinegar
1 T water
6 large cloves garlic
1/4 t black pepper
2 t olive oil
- Steam green beans for 2 min, then dump into large bowl.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, add cornstarch, sugar, red pepper, soy sauce, vinegar, and water. Whisk until smooth.
- Microwave sauce on high for 30 sec. Remove from microwave and whisk. Microwave again and whisk. Continue until sauce is thickened to the consistency of gravy.
- Slice garlic crosswise into pieces about 2 mm thick. Add to green beans.
- Add thickened sauce to green beans and garlic and toss. Add black pepper and oil and toss.
- Preheat air fryer at 400°F for 3 min.
- Cook at 400°F for 12 min or until edges of green beans are blackened.
