Air Fryer Basics

  • Always use the same temperature, no matter whether you are cooking a small amount or a large amount.
  • With larger amounts, just cook for longer times.
  • Preheating air fryer is good for cooking at high temps (350°F or hotter) but not necessary for low temps. Preheat at 400°F for 2 min.
  • For low-fat cooking, coat what you are cooking, like tofu, in a sauce thickened with cornstarch (or your preferred thickener) with just a little oil in the sauce. A little oil is good for melding flavors and makes the cooked sauce stick less to the air fryer.
  • Many veggies need precooking before cooking in the air fryer. Easy to do this using your microwave. I’ll give you some tips on how to do it — soon — so check back.
